About competition

On October 16, CASES: Design Challenge, the final of a large-scale graphic design competition, took place on October 16. The event was supported by the general partner Parimatch Ukraine. As part of the competition, designers had to individually complete a brief within a week (namely, create a key image and a series of conceptual materials using it - digital materials for social networks, branded products and photo zones), and the finalists had to defend it in front of the jury.

Each participant had the opportunity to choose one of the three briefs developed jointly with Parimatch Ukraine:

Campaign for the match with the participation of FC Shakhtar.

“Ambitious Team, in which designers had the opportunity to create branded materials to represent the team and the corporate culture of the Parimatch brand at conferences.

Let's Play, dedicated to esports.

The event's prize pool amounted to over UAH 100,000. 573 designers from all over Ukraine submitted applications, and only 10 were shortlisted.

We recorded an interview with them and asked them to share their impressions. In this article, we talk to Anna Blazhnova, a designer from Kyiv who took 2nd place in the competition.

Tell us about yourself and your path in graphic design. How did it all start?

I got acquainted with graphic design when I started designing course projects at the Faculty of Architecture. At the same time, I started working part-time as a graphic designer.

Now I'm a brand designer, and I have experience with industrial design, identity creation from scratch, rebranding, and IT products.

Why did you choose this design direction?

To do something cool, you can't do just one thing. I like the fact that design requires inspiration from different areas.

What interested you most about the competition?

I like the atmosphere of such competitions. It happens that designers burn out, and such Hunger Games-style challenge battles can bring them back to life and make them believe in themselves.
